Yes, that would work, but I think it would be very expensive (even for me with a pedorthotist next door to my office).

I ended up with simple - since all I wanted was a basic mold I used a shallow box of sand and wiggled around to make a impression. I then covered that with wax paper and then a double layer of epoxy saturated fiberglass and sat on it (wax paper under my butt too). The end result seem reasonable but it needs a lot of structural support.
