How much have you used your 8' strip kayak in whitewater? I know that wood can't be beat (biased opinion!) for a sea kayak, but how does it perform around rocks and holes? Does your fiberglass/kevlar system give the boat enough toughness to survive repeated bashings in Class III/IV water?

I'm in the market for a new whitewater boat, and I was just wondering if it would be worth my effort to build one, or would a plastic boat put up with the abuse that whitewater shells out on a kayak?
