Use a small blade

Think small. Sure you can use a 10 inch blade on your saw, but you can also use a 7, 7 1/4, or 8 inch blade on it, too. This is particularly the case as you are using stock that is only an inch thick or thinner.

The advantages with using the smaller blades are: Cheaper to buy, easier to find (sometimes) and thinner kerf. Since the kerf is even smaller than with a 10 inch thin-kerf blade, you'll make less sawdust and more strips.

With the smaller blade you'll cut a bit slower, but it may not be a noticeable difference. Keep that sawdust out of your lungs.
