Someone here had a really good Idea. It goes something like this.

Tape a strip of saran wrap to the outside of hull (use masking tape along the edge of a strip of plastic sheet (~ 3" wide) forming a ring of plastic wrap around the hul at the desired station, held in place by two rings of masking tape at the edges)

Lay fiberglass rope around the hul on the plastic sheet. Apply resin to rope and let it cure (tight against hull).

Remove ring of hardened fiberglass (split at shearline in necessary).

Trace shape of fiberglass rope / resin pattern to cardboard and re-check fit.

Trace cardboard patterns (after fine tuning) to paper or drafting mylar for future availability to make station forms (like owning a set of plans).

Of course, you may want to destroy evidence of plagiarism after you build a boat from the lifted plans.
