I don't know how curvey your trying to go but I have used a heat gun with much success. It works best if the wood is not kiln dried but it will work on the dried stuff too. Just heat while applying a bending force. If you over heat the wood it will weaken it's strength (similar to burning it). Wetting the wood and heating over several steps can make it go further.
