Sounds like this is a striper, not stitch & glue (S&G) -- unless it is a hybrid, with a ply-body and strip deck?

As to where to list it -- it will save you and the buyer $$ if you can sell it locally and avoid shipping expenses. So listing locally or regionally is a good way to go. Take some nice pics and post them online so that when you run small text notes you can direct folks to the web address of the photos. (http://www.connyak.org in CT, for example)

Many outfitters and clubs online will run a classifieds forum. There are also lists like this and at http://www.qajaqusa.org where you can mention a boat for sale (understanding that this is not the main purpose of the list).

Price is... highly variable. The buyer is paying for the time as well as the material that went into building the boat: comparable 'glass boats run in the $2-3,000 range, and this is a good place to start. But, some custom builders start their prices at $3,500 and up, so it wouldn't be out of line to start there.

You might also consider eBay -- making sure to list what arrangements you're willing to make for buyers outside your immediate area.

Good luck,
-Steve

: I have a 17 foot Guilemot singe i built last winter. The kayak is beautiful
: with inlays of mahogany ,redwood ,white and red cedar. The deck is staple
: less construction. I used the boat 2-3 times, and it paddles straight and
: fast. The thing is i have no interest in this recreational sport. The boat
: probably should be hanging from the ceiling of a large rec room. So my
: question is what is a kayak like this worth to sell, and where is a good
: place to list it. Any response would appreciated.
