Raka's pumps have always worked fine for me. I just pump them slow and I've never had a problem with burping. I still use syringes for mixing up small batches though.

18 gage copper wire should be available at an electrical supply store. Or you could call up any of the kit manufacturers and they would probably be happy to sell you some. IMHO the advantages of copper wire are significant. Thick enough so it won't cut through the wood panels as you tighten. Soft so it can be left in the hull and sanded smooth. Easy to work so it can be loosened and tightened multiple times before it breaks. Pretty so it can be left in the hull and it looks like tiny little rivets.
