: My experience (and this covers many years...around 45 years..., a lot of
: finish work, and quite a few boats with Elmer's and titebond glue) is that
: if you wipe the excess glue off with a dry rag, or try to scrape it off,
: you will probably, but not always, get a blotch. I wipe excess glue off
: with a wet rag and do not get blotches...UNLESS I didn't get it all. I
: make sure I get it all. If you are doing a stripper, you don't need to
: wipe the excess off as you strip. The scraping, planing, and sanding will
: take care of that. This advice is worth exactly what you want it to be
: worth.
The advice is as good, as it deserves a reply :-)

When i built the first stripper, i planed all the strips on the outside, in a thickness planer. Hence it made sense to me, to wipe all excessive glue off with a wet rag. This did not give any blotches, as i made sure, all glue was wiped off.

On the new stripper, i am not going to run the strips through the thickness planer. I will just leave glue where it is and scrape it off afterwards.

Thanks,

Jesper
