I used rolled paper, but made photocopies so that I wouldn't have to cut up the plans. I had them made at a copy center, where they cost about 1.50 a page. I never plan on making another boat, but I now have another copy of the plans hanging on my wall like a poster. I may even draft a nice copy of my Sea Raider plans from Tom Yost to hang next to them.

The distortion from copying is probably far more than the paper itself, and the distortion from my less than perfectly cut forms is probably far more than both. On an 18 foot boat, no paper distortion will make any difference.

BTW, I used 1/2 inch plywood for my forms (as well as my strongback) but would go with 3/4 next time. It's a little more expensive, but I feel it's worth it for the stiffer, stronger, strongback. My strongback fell and snapped right after I finished my boat. It made me wonder what would have happened if my strips were still attached.
