I don't have any means of steaming or heating wood at the time so I plan on bending 1/8" strips around. I assume this will be possible with ash.

From what I've read, the wider the lip the better for your spray skirt, especially when you round off the edges. I plan to put the lip 3/4" above the deck, is this the norm? Also maybe about 3/8" instead of 1/2" from the bottom to the top of the lip is better.
