: I was fortunate enough to get a neoprene dry suit from a friend who decided

: is quite warm but turns my underarms to hamburger from chafing--even when
: wearing a "non-chafing" long sleeve shirt. I have some
: "body glide" that I use to prevent chafing while running and I
: am going to try that, but I'm not optimistic that it will be enough
: protection to solve the problem. I was wondering if anyone else has any
: good ideas that have worked for them.

I have an old O'Neill neoprene dry suit which is okay for white water work and wind surfing but not for continuous sea kayak paddling. They weren't designed for all day or continuous paddling without chafing.
You might be able to cut and glue in a neoprene gusset to give you more flex and room in the shoulder and armpit area.
You could even cut and sew/glue in a piece of coated nylon that would flex and for sea kayaking should keep the rush of cold water from/to your pits down even if you submerge.
