Would it be easier to print out your images on a laser printer or deskjet, in the color combination you prefer? I wanted to "brand" my kayaks .. but found it easier and cheaper to just print out our logo on a tissue/napkin and let this be epoxied onto the deck. It comes out great..the napkin (white) is invisible under the resin. I've alos done multiple layers..and it works out well.
I'm not firmilier with the method you mentioned, however there are dyes especially made for epoxy..but I must add. They do not (mix) dye 100%.
The dyes I'm talking about are for SICOMIN Epoxy Systems..let me know if this is what your looking for..I can send you a link.
