In Response To: Epoxy: Another Wetting out Question (HowieE)

When glassing the outside hull, I start applying epoxy about two feet back from the bow and work my way toward the bow wetting from the keel to the sheer. Then I do the opposite side of the hull following the same pattern. This anchors the cloth at the bow so it won't be disturbed while working on the rest. Then I make my way along the hull working in sections about three feet long and apply epoxy from the keel to the sheer. So, now I have one 2 foot section on each side and one 3 foot section on one side that are saturated. I alternate sides with each new batch applied and work my way down to the stern end. If the first areas applied (bow area) need squeegeeing before I have finished saturating the entire hull, I squeegee the area that needs attention then return to saturating. So, by now, I am saturating one new area toward the stern then squeegeeing one older area toward the bow. When all of the saturation is completed I just have to go back to do the squeegeeing on the areas that require this attention. When that is all done, I have a look at the whole job about every 20 or 30 minutes to see if there are any starved areas that require more epoxy or any runs that need to be removed with the squeegee. Also keep an eye out for bubble formation. If bubbles appear, I lightly drag a piece of "epoxy roller" over the surface to burst the bubbles. When all of the epoxying is done, sit back and admire.
