Next time if the resin its a little more cured try running a scalpel, exacto knife, along the edge of the tape, cutting the resin that should help it coming off in one piece.

: Thanks for the suggestions, folks. As a follow up, I used blue masking tape.
: I removed it from the hull while the epoxy was nice and green and had no
: problem at all removing it. However, I caught some flue after applying a
: seal coat to the inside of the deck, so I was delayed a few days in
: applying the fiberglass and removing the tape. That was more of a pain to
: remove, I got it off, but I could have pulled it off quickly instead of
: picking off pieces if I had removed it sooner.
