Poking on ebay, flea markets or garage sales (my beltsander with sandpaper its a 5$ find for example) can be useful but the tools you have at hand already can get you by, you got the strips already and thats the only thing for which youd need something particular. For sure you have a jigsaw, screwdriver, hammer, glue and nails, that pretty much takes care of the forms and SB for the strips you need just a knife, fairing boards are easy to build, scrapers are too if you have an old sawblade to cut in pieces, otherwise as last resource a piece of broken glass its a great scraper. Small finishing nails (the ones that look like a pin without head) work perfectly instead of staples, and when you pull the nail out you just reuse it and leaves one hole instead of 2. I never owned a spokeshave because i always used a knife to carve but last ive seen they arent that difficult to make either, i build my own block planes with scraps so i shape the sole as i want and that limits the use of sandpaper a lot, on the hull i avoid powertools. So dont spend money on something you just think you will need but then it just sits there, start building and when the moment comes you will see what you really need. For brute shaping, not on the hull, you can use a rasp or a disksander on a drill if you really feel the need to use powertools.
After all whats really a necessity its a good shopvac.
