: If I am only doing the deck how can I start & stop at the sheer line???

If the deck cloth edge laps on top, it is possible with some finesse with a putty knife and the heat gun to start to remove the top layer and then use pliers and the heat gun without damaging the bottom layer of cloth and epoxy. You can also can sand most of the way through the deck cloth and start removal with the putty knife and heat gun. Again finesse is necessary not to burn the underlying wood.
