hi lee,

: 1" webbing with fastek buckle but configure an upside down slider
: near the edge of the hatch.

That’s another good, simple one lee! Another I liked was to form/attach a blob (say rubber or pvc) under, same width, same colour as the webbing and right at the edge as you say. Effect is the same, yours is deadsimple and quick.
(In basic terrms the bumps are oversized and unsightly for the intended purpose)

: . . . . None of which provide the
: same exposed hook the metal lever closures present.

Along with the above, in some correspondence with pygmy I sent off a usable electronic file of 20 or 30 lever latch modifications to possibly resolve that glaring issue as well as a few others I thought should change . Don’t quite know the status.
