Thanks for all the info guys. It appears I was wanting something similar to the Wee Lassie... Kinda sorta... Lots of info on that.
As far as why would you want a small boat. It helps to have a 16 ft greenland yak as your primary boat. Beyond that, yes, they are quite cute, but if I was only wanting something cute, then I would build a mouse boat. The idea of having a small craft that can be easily taken to a body of water and then easily paddled in that far off body of water is very appealing to me. For me currently, this is all the city ponds in Boston using a bike hitch.
