Strip: hatches

Any good ideas for hatches? Water tight is important. Ive made a couple boats so far and cant get that hatch right. Im going off of nick shades book. but his illustrations go from one very rough looking hatch to a very neat looking one with little disscusion. I wouldnt be opposed to buying a hatch and installing it. thanks

also: anyone ever hear of an aluminum kayak? plenty of aluminum canoes.
