Epoxy: Coaming Bubble Trouble

I am building my first stripper, last yesterday evening I applied fiberglass (4 oz.) around the coaming lip. My glassing has gone very well so far, the coaming riser was fine. This is a Redfish Silver, but I am using a Schade style coaming. The lip is laminated ash strips, with a radius on the edges, and a fillet on the inner corners. I laid the glass around the lip, the glass cut on the bias, 2 pieces to complete the circle. I has some trouble with air pockets forming on the outer surface of the coaming, under the glass. I could chase these pockets around, but could not disperse them, so I decided to leaving them where the would be easiest to fix, on the outside edge of the coaming.

This evening, I cut the air pockets out and slightly sanded around them to try to feather the edges. At this point, though, the epoxy is still too gummy to feather well. My hope was to smooth over the voids and apply more glass over them. I tried to apply glass over one void, but the hollow it forms in the glass ended up as an air pocket.

Not sure what to do next, do I let the epoxy harden further so I can feather it better? Or do I fill the holes with some thickened epoxy (I'm afraid that will show up under the glass). My other thought is to sand it all off and try again. Some of the pocket are about 1/8" circles, other were strips maybe 1-2 inches long. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken
