I can certainly understand the courage aspect of that. I felt the same when when I built my first S&G. I had never glassed anything before and all I could think was, "If I screw this up, I'll lose such a beautiful kayak". Of course, messing the glass up only means more work, not a lost cause. Hee! Hee! In my books, there's no such thing as a lost cause.

I don't think I'll be afraid when I finally get to the inlay work. I'll just make sure I've had a glass of wine before I start the work: my hands will be steadier.

The one question I have now is what species of wood will give me the best coloration for my inlay work. I need a red that matches the Canadian Maple Leaf and a blue that matches the Quebec Fleur-de-lis. I have thought about using wood dyes but for all intensive purposes, that seems like cheating considering what I want as a final product - original inlay work with no artificial colors.
