I've built a Merganser 16,18,17W and paddled a 17. I suspect that Eric committed to the permutations of the Shearwater 17 without actually building and testing them. The only reason I say that is that there are many variations of the Merganser and it would take building building them to discover if there's a change in handling with the morphing on the computer. The 17W I built handles noticably different than the 16,17,18. It feels like the pivot point is more forward and it weathercocks more.
