I'd agree with your knot discoloring theory, Mr. Hamm. I don't think this "charactaristic" takes away from the beauty of the boat, and I would live with it. My own personal preference is to let the wood tell it's own story, in spite of the many "artwork" options we've seen here on the KBB (inlays, paint jobs and even intricate strip patterns on strip boats). Don't get me wrong, I love all the work we've seen here, and any of the beautiful examples shown "hourly" on this forum might appeal to Mr. Robinson, if he chooses.

: Kinda hard to tell remotely but looks like either the are was charred a
: little (burnt) or it's the edge discoloring of a knot that was removed
: when they made the veneer.
