That's interesting! I haven't noticed this at all, even after having the kayak on my roof rack for hours. I live in Miami, FL and paddle in Miami and the FL Keys, so my kayak is exposed to some pretty direct sunlight/heat. It might get a bit warm, but not hot enough to soften the epoxy or burn my skin.

Some questions: How thick is your finished coaming? Which epoxy did you use? How heavy was the cloth you used?

If it's too thin, you could always add some extra layers to increase the thickness and to make that last layer of CF look even better.
