Check out the shipping price for 2 or 3 sheets of plywood and that local dealer's price may become a real deal. Iff he has waht you need, or can get it.

A 4x8 sheet of plywood is too big for UPS or FedEx, so it goes by truck. With all the middlemen handling it along the way, your shipping costs could be more than the price of the wood itself!

One of the reasons we have to scarf 4x8 sheets into longer panels is because no one wants to deal with the problems of shipping 4 x 16 foot sheets of plywood. Now if there was a big demand for such sheet sizes-I've seen such stuff used for paneling a tall room--then it would be worthwhile to make the extra handling effort. Imagine how much time you could save in boat building if you could get 2x20 plywood, or 4x20 plywood.
