I just checked my build log for the last Black Pearl. Below is the lamination schedule for the hatch recesses starting from the outside working in.

1 x 3.25 oz fiberglass (outer layer to add depth)
2 x 5.5 oz carbon fiber (1 show layer, 1 build layer...)
3 x 6 oz fiberglass (fill layers to build thickness)
1 x 5.5 oz carbon (inner strength layer which will be in tension when stressed).

Total thickness is about 1/8". It's roughly the same schedule I use for my coamings. I build mine right on the deck (no post-gluing). The show layer of CF and the 3.25 oz fiberglass are laminated after the deck is joined to the hull. I'm an engineer by training so I always ere on the safe side and overbuild stuff.
