Hi Bryan,

Well two things, one the glass will stiffen over a few days time, takes nearly a week when it's cold for it to really set up hard.

Other thing I'm sure you know, but not everyone reading this will is those hatches take an awful lot of pushing and prodding when new to get them to seal, better to have the recesses stiffer rather than flexible, not hard to crack the plastic rims if the surround can flex.
