Hi John,
For a bit more effectiveness, use two leeboards that are assymentrically profiled. Kind of like splitting the drawing in two mirror halves.
Most blade type leeboards that I've seen are like that, the curved side against the hull.
The fan type are usually flat sided, as on Thames barges.
