Hi John,
I wouldn't mind the length so much, dagger-style leeboards are always long, it was the cross-section thickness I was thinking of.
I'm not used to seeing a single leeboard system, with twin leeboards you let the weatherside one kick up on its own a bit to reduce drag before hauling it up all the way.
