I have worked with wood for about 25 years and I have only seen
: boards like this only once. I would give my
: left---------------------------------------------hand paddle for one of
: those boards. Dining room table top would look good made out of that.
: Solid mahogany not particle board laminate.

Working over 40 years as a pattern maker and model maker we had a truck load of pattern making quality lumber between 2000 and 3000 board feet around every 6 weeks. It was all rough-cut kiln dried clear ponderosa pine and clear mahogany. All boards were roughly 16 to 20 ft in length and thickness from 1 inch to over 4 inches, and from roughly a foot to 30 inches wide. I stop by the shop now and then and the pine and mahogany is now replaced with lumber that is all glued together. The scrap back then was unbelievable and we packed it away for projects and to burn in our fireplaces. The picture shows a planed 2" thick mahogany from those days of riches and plenty, that I roughed out for my workout room. Everyday, we had about three 55 gal. drums fill with scraps of pine and mahogany. Had I know the future I would of packed that wood home to a pole barn and now would be selling it on e-bay.
