I haven't built an S&G or stripper for many years, so I'm not current
regarding finishing wood boats. I recall however, that after my first
couple of strippers , I decided to simply apply only 2 to 3 quick coats
of gloss UV varnish or urethane with a foam brush and go paddling.

No matter how good it looks initially , it will never look that good again,
unless you keep it on static display...and after all, it's a boat first and
foremost !

I tried to be careful about where I sat them on the shore, and in the water,
but it was to no avail. After 9 S&G's and strippers, I decided it
wasn't worth the work and worry and switched to SOF, and I haven't had to
worry about it since. I now build work boats, not works of art. A few
wrinkles and patches add character.

Thanks for allowing me this trip down memory lane :)

Regards,

Tom
