Hadware stores and Home Depot etc carry tubing. You want the hard milky looking stuff not the soft transparent stuff. Most of those stores carry both. Boating stores also carry the tubing. It's hard and stiff. It's what commercial kayak manufacturers use. You can get the stainless cable at the boating stores too.
Rough it up ad it will bond with epoxy fine.
