The rear deck is both high and peaked, so the standard-issue cockpit would be pointy at the back edge without a recess ... I lowered the rear deck height along the center peak by about 1.5" immediately behind the cockpit, tapering to nothing at the stern ... this softened the peak considerably, and then I installed a recessed cockpit ... its not a rollers recess, per se, but I don't have any difficulty rolling this kayak.
