: Hello All,
: I keep trying to post a message with a link, but it never shows up on the
: KBBB. Non link messages go up, and I am pasting the link in both the
: message field and the required field and I have tried two different
: computers. Is there anything else I need to do?

I've had a few problems like that.

When you post your messages pay close attention to the message you get once your message clears the screen. If it says "Thanks for submitting" your message will be on the board in a few seconds. However, if it says something like "Your message will be posted after being reviewed by the administrator" Then in all probability you'll never see it again.

The reason, I believe, is rooted in the "spam" filter Nick has on this board. Certain words and phrases (none of which I can repeat here, or this message won't come through) will trigger the filter, and sent your message into a mailbox which Nick can read. In previous discussions on this, he has mentioned that checking that pile for useful postings is not high on his list of priorities. If one of your messages goes there, consider it lost.

Unfortunately there are some words which are innoccuous by themselves which may be mistyped to create words on the filter list. Or, a common word may contain within it the letter sequence of another word--one which is on the spam list. Sometimes the message will go through if you cna identify these and insert some spaces.

Also, there are combinations of letters in some URLs which can trigger the filter. I had that happen just last week when I was trying to follow a URL posted by Jay Babina. His link to an Ace Hardware site for a saw blade didn't produce the picture in his message. When I checked the link in his psoting I could see that something had attached itself, and by deleting the garbage I could get right to the picture. I then tried to post the correct link and the picture went through--but only after I deleted the URL for the page the image was on from my text. For some reason the URL for that webpage triggered the spam filter and the entire message went into the holding tank. I went back through mhy web browser to the screen I was typing my reply in, edited the reply, and tried again. And again. And again. Each tiem I deleted more from my message, and each time it failed to fly through. Finally I deleted the URL for the Ace Harware age, and everything was fine.

Go figure.

The moral of the story is that if at first you don't get your message to go through, copy it to the cliboard in your computer and try to send it in pieces. Say send the first paragraph, then the second, etc. until you come to the point where something won't go thru. Then examine what you have left and try to find something salacious hidden inside. Re-word, re-type or otherwise revise to eliminate the offense and see if it flies.

Hope this helps.
