First time Kayaker and potential builder looking for opionions/comments on best options...What are good choices for low cost and ease of building? I want to involve boys (10-14yrs - maybe have them build their own?). Is there much difference between a wood or canvas version of the Guillemot? I would like something much better than the $50 folding kayaks but would like to stay close to $200. Do I have any options or am I dreaming? A $400-$500 kayak is definitely planned for the future (I just need to collect a lot more aluminum cans).
