In Response To: Thicker epoxy (Jim)

: System 3 describes a process in their "Epoxy Book" (pdf download)
: where you add part of the total hardener to resin and allow this to
: partially cure. This leaves you with a high viscosity material to which
: you add the balance of the hardener when you want to uise it to get a full
: cure and presto, at least they say it works.

I have tried this. The weather was hot and I was trying to use up some fast hardner. On the first batch I started with 1/2 the rquired hardner and it set up hard in the pot. On the next try I only used 1/3 the rqired hardner and it set up thick although a bit lumpy. That made it a little harder to mix in the rest of the hardner and spread the glue; but it did glue fine. Is still holding.

: Unaware of any other way to
: get a thicker clear curing product. You may want to call them to make sure
: it will do what you want.

System Three also lists a 1:1 ratio glue whith a one hour pot life in their epoxy book that is clear; but I haven't used it
