: I have the chance to get a very old wooden Old Town canoe that has been in
: the family for many years (and we got it used!) About 40 years ago, my
: father
: covered it with a very coarse weave fiberglass cloth and resin on the outside
: and 2 part paint on the inside.
: I'd like to restore it. Any ideas, web resources or good thoughts on how to
: remove the glass/resin and two part paint without generating a lot of
: itchy and toxic fumes? I apologize for straying from the kayak topic area
: - if this is not worth a discussion thread on the forum, perhaps someone
: can point me in the right direction with a direct e-mail.
: Thanks
Use a handheld planer aka bottom planer set you depth and go to work.
I stripped a 17' kayak just for fun, worked just fine.
