a check of websites that had specs on Spectra came back with this one:

Spectra floats and various confugurations can be very stiff, or flexible.
The big thing about spectra is its strength. A line with a diameter of 1 mm (that is about 1/25th of an inch) had a minimal breaking point of 270 pounds. If you go up to something only 1/10 th inch in diameter you are talking a breaking force of 1400 pounds (safe work load would be around 150 to 200 pounds). Of course I you tried to hold onto such thin rope it would cut into your hands.

Something the size of a shoelace could probably tow a car.
