I have read previous post about luan, I built a 17' kayak 3 years ago form 1/8" luan every part of the boat is luan (seat cushion, deck hardware, paddle and glass not included). anyway, I never thought the boat would last 3 years it has been stored outside everyday since it was complete. I paddle this boat 3-4 times a week with very little maintnance, It has survived 1 fall from the bed of my truck @ 45 mph with minor paint damage. I am very impressed with luan!
I have not built with it again, but I have recomended new builders to do so(price)I live in Fernandina Beach, Florida if your ever this way I'll show the waters.
