I agree. That's not 'damaged' ... it's "used." I'd wait until at least *next* winter before I sanded and revarnished that. Although it's a little hard to tell from the picture, it appears the white that is visible is scratched up varnish, not damaged fiberglass in need of repair. Go ye forth and paddle some more!
