: Check your local library. Ask for someone who cna help you with interlibrary
: loans. In the past week I've been immersed in the developments in
: interlibrary loan, and it has amazed me.

: My personal librarian (doesn't everyone have a personal librarian?) claimed
: she could find just about any book I asked for. I bet her an ice cream
: sundae that of my list of 5 old books she could not find more than 3.
: (Actually, I gave her six titles, and she found 5 in different libraries
: across the US, and I think she'll find the lst one in a few days.)

: The library she works at picks up the cost of shipping as a service to their
: patrons, but some libraries may charge you that fee. usualy they hit you
: for exactly what the UPS cost are, which is usually cheaper than the flat
: rates quoted by online bookstores. It is well worth it. Be careful to
: return the books on time, though, as overdue fees may be astronomical. She
: says that international interlibrary loans take place too, but I would
: guess there is a long delay in shipping.

: If you hit www.amazon.com or wwwbarnesandnoble.com and can find the ISBN
: number of the book you want, or can get author, exact title, and even
: publisher your librarian will have a faster time searching for the exact
: book. www.Bookfinder.com may help with out of print books.

: Now that the topic has come up, perhaps this forum might compile a locator
: file of useful information that is NOT on the web for example, knowing
: what libraries hold copies of the books we frequently (and infrequently)
: talk about would make it easier for people to find these items. for
: example, if nick's book is owned by the Gotham Public Library, it would be
: easier to order it through interlibrary loan.

Thanks Paul. This gives me another avenue I hadn't considered. And from reading about your success... I think it might work for me too!
