: i was reading a glass book over the weekend and it said that because of the
: looser weave, satin can drape and conform better than corresponding
: e-glass. Did you find this so? And when you do it next time, will you
: squeegy that last oz off or just leave it there to not disturb the
: bubbles. Did you preweigh your resin before applying?

Hmmm, that sounds backwards. It looks to me like satin weave is a much tighter weave than open. Since my experience is with 6 oz open weave and 3.2 oz satin weave, it's hard to make direct comparisons. The 3.2 oz cloth has a VERY smooth surface texture, so it does not require much resin to wet-out or fill the weave.
The satin definitely drapes easier. It goes around a tighter radius without lifting off. This is likely due to thinner strands rather than the type of weave. It conforms about the same, but remember the cloth is thinner. I'm guessing that 6 oz satin would not conform as well as 6 oz open.
I completely squeegeed excess wet-out resin from the hull. After seeing the results, I dispensed with squeegeeing wet-out on the deck except for a couple minor wet spots.
I didn't pre-weigh the resin before applying so I don't know the glass to resin ratio. The boat weighs 39 lbs outfitted and varnished. I used 1/4' strips with portions being alaska yellow cedar and walnut which are heavier than WRC. Also I have 9.6 oz of glass between the bulkheads and 4 generous carbon fiber ribs under the deck and 9.6 oz in the seat area. The bulkheads are 1/4 " plywood so that the front one can be used directly for a foot brace instead of pegs. So 39 lbs seems reasonable. At this point I'm going on faith that the boat is both lighter and stronger than if I had used 6 oz open weave cloth. Next time I might try 3/16 " strips.
