S&G: Type of paint for painting stripe on Pygmy kayak?

I'm just about ready to sand and varnish my Pygmy Coho. The Pygmy manual mentions the idea of masking and painting a stripe along the sheer. They do this with their boats for advertising and I think it looks pretty good. My question is what kind of paint can I use? Pygmy uses System Three epoxy and recommends using only certain brands of varnish to guarantee compatibility with the epoxy. I bought two quarts of the Z-Spar Captain's varnish. Will certain types of paint give me problems with compatibility with the epoxy or the varnish? Have others had success with a certain type of product? Is there a type of paint I should stay away from (for example, don't use enamal)?
