Hi John,

I just returned from a 2 week vacation where 3 friends and I used the radios extensivly. I hadn't used them before and was quite impressed. I got the T6200, I would reccomend the AA battery version due to the fact that the battery life of AA's is 36 hrs whereas the recargable NiMH batteries last 12 hours. Not important for day trips but 3 or 6 extra batteries go a long way on a long trip. The cost of the charging unit for the NiMH batteries is $70.00 cdn you can buy a lot of AA's for that, and if your in the boonies without electricity your s.o.l. once you NiMH barreries are gone.

Range is quite impressive over water and flat ground, and somewhat reduced in forest and uneven ground where sender and reciever are sheltered from each other by hills or valleys.

When the campsite you are looking for is in "one of these bays" different paddlers can check different bays and stay in touch, plus they're just plain fun. Another added bonus...they have an off switch if you want peace and quiet!

Have fun with whatever you choose.

Ken
