Thanks to the contributors who recommended the addition of a skeg. I had pretty much decided on it myself, but it was nice to have my theory reinforced.
On her maiden voyage the Yellow Peril swerved like a drunk on crutches. With just a small increase in lateral resistance, she now paddles straight as an arrow.
