Sure, I told myself I could quit any time I wanted to, but now I find myself designing a new kayak for my sons. It will be 15.5' by 23" beam. I will try to correct some of the flaws in my first attempt, to wit:

1. Less camber in the deck. I will use two-section deck construction

which will allow me to have different cambers in the fore and aft

decks.

2. Less vee in the bottom. I think the deeper vee in Yak I negatively

affects its primary stability and turning.

3. Lower height of the bow. I think Yak I has too much "sail" forward.

The height also necessitates more camber.

4. Two fewer bulkheads. The sealed flotation tanks I built into Yak I

are probably unnecessary and could be a problem if they start leaking.

5. Deeper keel at the stern. I had to add a skeg to Yak I.

6. Use 4 oz. cloth on the hull instead of 7-1/2 oz. Yak I could take a

torpedo strike, but the Taliban has no submarines.

Well thanks for letting me think out loud. I welcome any comments.
