Mike, Four comments for you: If memory serves rightly, a replacement motor for Craftsman contractor saws was about $100 several years ago. Considering that, the amount of use it has seen and the condition of the rest of the saw could make it a bargain or a bust. The second thing, check the bracket that the motor mounts to in back. If it is distorted from a nice, square shape the saw has probably seen its better days. Third, check out the fence. If it doesn't seem right the saw probably isn't. Last, don't let the age alone scare you. I've got one over thirty years old, still functional though little used since I bought a cabinet saw. I know at least two people using saws over twenty years old.

Luck, Tom
