Bulkhead Idea

Thanks for the info. The cracking in the hull bottom that you mention is a worry. It sounds like the bulkhead/hull joint is too stiff which puts a localized stress in to the hull when the hull flexes.

The plywood I have for the bulkhead is actually 1/8" (3.2mm) Mil-P-6070 mahogany aircraft plywood. For the aft bulkhead, I was thinking of doing something special. Instead of a planar bulkhead, the idea is to bend the bulkhead into a U-shape with the concave side facing forward. The purpose is to minimize cockpit flooded volume, but it also might reduce the hull cracking problem by distributing the stress line over more fore/aft distance.
