Material: Bargain on Foam for Kayak Seat?

I'm building one of Nick's 14' Auks for my daughter, and know I'm going to need foam for the seat. At a local "salvage" store I found some 4" thick sheets of gray foam. They were about 1 1/2 X 3 feet or so and selling for about 10 bucks. Very fine grained, offered some resistance when poked and sprang back..no dimple left. Sound like the right stuff?
