Hi. I have been given a Stich & Glue kayak. It is 19 feet long
and 19 inches wide. My problem is that 19" is way too narrow for me (as a comparison I find my 22" glass boat ok).
I am looking for ways to effectively increase the beam. So far I have
come up with attaching inflated fenders about 40 " long and 4" wide near
the seat to act as Sponsons. Alternatively I could attach "foam noodles"
(sold as swimming pool toys) along both sides for most of the length of the boat.
I would really appreciate any advice as I would really like to be able
to keep this boat. It makes a great day boat and is really light to carry.
I hope to make my own S&G boat someday, but at the moment I dont have the
space for building.
Thanks in advance for your help.
